This month we are turning a little green!
Not with envy, but rather in celebration of St PAW–trick’s Day!
What better time to “Go Green” than when Lucky Shamrocks, Leprechauns and Rainbows abound, and gosh, does green look good on us! At Paw Prints we endeavor to help not harm, which sparked an initiative to do our part with the environment. While we may not be going completely “Green”, we wanted to use this month to lessen our environmental impact in some small ways.
“Imagine if we were all magical leprechauns, and every wish ever made on a four-leaf clover obliged us to help others obtain their wishes. Now imagine if people simply lived like this were true.” Richelle E. Goodrich
We kicked March off with a lovely Plant Swap & Share Market, and received some beautiful plant donations to sell. Having a beautiful garden (that we are certain any lucky shamrock would be proud to grow in), is so important to us for attracting birds, bees and butterflies. This has a positive environmental impact as well as being a sensory experience of smells and textures for our doggos. We will be running a second Plant Swap and Share at our March Month End Market, so bring a plant, swap a plant, or buy a plant and help us spread the green this month.
Next week we will be launching our first set of recycling bins! This is incredibly special for us, because it will massively reduce the amount of recyclable waste that we contribute to landfill sites. With the many dogs and puppies in our care, we go through heaps of plastic, cardboard and tins, on a daily basis. By reducing our landfill waste, we will help to protect those animals that feed in these fills, and extend the positive impact we hope to have in animals’ lives, beyond those in our care.
It seems that all this green has encouraged some mischief with the Leprechauns though, and in the process of writing this, we find ourselves knee deep in the chaos of this week’s storms and flooding. As they say, when it rains it pours, and never have the words of this Irish saying been more relatable to us here at Paw Prints…
“May the roof above us never fall in,
And may the friends gathered below it never fall out.”
We are truly hoping for some Irish luck (and maybe even a pot of gold or two) to come our way! We have already had some severe flooding at the center, as well as with our very close friends at Vet On Main. If ever we needed rainbows, it would be now, but while the Upper Highway floods, our spirits and hopes will not be dampened.
“Here’s to a fellow who smiles, when life runs along like a song.
And here’s to the lad who can smile, when everything goes dead wrong.”
We have set off on a journey together this year, and are so incredibly grateful for all of you supporting us and riding the storms of Paw Prints life with us. So together we keep smiling, and we leave you with this Irish blessing…
“May the leprechauns be near you, to spread luck along your way.
And may all the Irish angels, smile upon you St. Patrick’s Day.”
Luck and Love from the Paw Prints Team x
